Addition and renovation of a 1970's International Style-influenced cypress-clad house.
The master office/bedroom features an open plan to reinforce the
original design's modular flow. The cantilever in the bedroom further
enhances the experience of the North Carolina pine woods beyond.

mercer street residential lobby, nyc *
Full renovation of a soho residential lobby with unusually narrow constraints. The aim was to maintain a more open feel to the 4 foot wide hall to the elevator entrance without the brashness of the previous "infinite mirror" motif which lined the hallway with inexpensive brown and grey marble. The residents desired a more clean, luxurious feel to fit in with the soho environment, yet have it be an escape from the tourist bustle that dominates Mercer Street. The solution was to line the walls with bright back-painted glass with mirrors strategically placed in the entrance and angled wall with counters demarking stopping points and ceiling cove lights to allow the ceiling to float.

Combination of two adjacent studio apartments for a couple and their cat. We regained the middle window of a turn-of-the-century townhouse and added a bedroom with moveable translucent partitions. Clean colonial fixtures accent the industrial loft and stainless steel kitchen.

Renovation of a one-bedroom apt. The aim was to make the living area more loft-like inspite of its tiny size. The entry closet is split with a double-sided slot of translucent frosted glass that ties into the bathroom and living room so that a continuous area of light is perceptible from entry to living area to hallway. A custom stainless kitchen topped with white carrera which cantilevers into the space to allow for more exposed floor area complements the owner's 50's era furniture.

A proposal to create a public bath as a new program for the parachute pavilion. The program ties together several cultural spheres in coney island and creates a unique experience in relation to the parachute tower. Structure and organization developed from natural sand formations.

Back wall was opened and elongated into a sun room/living area that directly faces the once obscured garden. All slate floors and rich wood detailing tie into the aesthetic of the garden.

extensive
renovation of a rare duplex in a central park building filled with
flats. Original 1950's fixtures of idiosyncratic previous owner proved
to not be servicable and hallways received no natural light. Kitchen
changed to accommodate a breakfast nook and corner devoted to the
couple's two dogs. New bathroom for husband fitted with flat screen tv
and open shower with seating. hallway has extensive openings looking
into living and dining spaces to receive daylight and now serves as a
gallery for couple's art collection.
